Last 4 Hr Jazz Mix For a Lil’ While

For this 4 hour mix at Honeycomb HiFi for my Jazz Kissa set, I chose to go a little more upbeat than the previous 2 mixes. You can check them out at my Mixcloud.
I’ve even played a Jazzy track by Led Zeppelin in this latest mix!

I’ll be traveling to India in September to hopefully attend the Jazz Weekender in Delhi on the 28-29th of September, and also get to play at the opening parties alongside The 264 Cru.

Another Month, Another 4 Hour Jazz Mix!

4Hr Jazz All Vinyl Mix

And we’re back.
Grateful to be invited to play my records every last Monday of the month at Honeycomb Hi-Fi in Dubai. It’s a little getaway treat being based now in Riyadh, which coincidentally is my birthplace that I lived in for my first few months on this planet .. so it’s a full circle after 41 years.
Anyway, I still get my records shipped to the UAE. This means that many of the records I play at the Jazz Kissa night are actually first-time plays.

Next gig is on the 26th of August.
Hope you enjoy the mix!

Press Play

Heya!
It just occurred to me that I should utilize my blog to post my sets and other Radyous related news!

I’ve come a long way and now playing at the first vinyl bar in Dubai, Honeycomb HiFi, every last Monday of the month for their Jazz Kissa night.
I bought a looooooong overdue recorder specially for that and took it with me for my first set (that was FIRE) … but I had the wrong cables. pwap pwap pwaaaaaaap. That set was pretty wild as I kept building up and playing some of my bass heaviest Jazz records at the last third of my set to test out their custom-made Devon Ojas sound system.
Learned my lesson and got the correct cables to my second gig which happened on the 24th of June. Most of the records that I’ve played have been bought individually from Bandcamp. You can find the setlist below.
I chose to go a bit mellow/spiritual on this set as I felt my first set was a bit too much for a “Jazz Kissa” night, although the staff even told me that it was the best Jazz Kissa night they’ve had.
Lemme know your thoughts!

Play That Record!

It’s been almost 5 years since my last blog post … and LOTS has happened since, both personally and musically.

Me and a bunch of friends created The 264 Cru, which changed the clubbing landscape in Dubai and introduced a different sound to the city, then I worked at a failed music start-up, and started DJing and collecting vinyl!

Since lockdown began and not being able to share music as much as before, I decided to start uploading full recordings of some of the records I receive.

This record was my first play after receiving it fresh. It’s by a band called Magic In Threes. Discovered the band through a YouTube channel now called Proved Records – previously known as Provocative Educative !, Is a YT channel dedicated to dig out the underground gems of Hip-Hop, Jazz, Funk, Electronic & other genres of music.

I would like to take some time here to give a very special shout-out to Bandcamp for being the leading beacon that’s truly keeping the music industry alive. I’ve tried to reach out last year with a new pivot in mind for them, which could’ve been a flaming success now in this new pandemic digital landscape, but unfortunately couldn’t reach anyone there.

I host a show on this leading Indian online community radio station called Boxout FM, where I share my latest finding and purchases from Bandcamp appropriately called the Bandcamp Hour.

Synesthetic Transcription

“The key to the piece was devising a visual system who’s form and compositional dynamics matched the response to music.”

So basically, this is your brain on Burial’s music :

Music Matter

Sound interacting with matter.

You may have seen these experiments in separate videos that I have posted before .. but these guys take it to the next level! The perform as a band dealing with the different elements of matter.

Sick!

SCIENCE!!

“Doctors would normally fix a tremor like Roger Frisch’s by keeping him awake during surgery, inserting electrodes deep into his brain until the trembling appeared to stop. But for a concert violinist, even the slightest remaining tremor would mean the end of the career, so in 2009 doctors at the Mayo Clinic designed a special violin for Frisch to play through his surgery. An accelerometer at the tip of the bow measured Frisch’s trembling, allowing doctors to fine-tune the placement of their electrodes.

By turning on a battery and sending a current into his brain, Frisch can now switch off his tremors whenever he needs to play.”
