Anita Collins made a TED-Ed video lesson describing what really goes on in a musicians head while playing an instrument and goes on to state all the benefits of it .Neuroscientists found that while listening to music lights up the whole brain, playing music is the equivalent of a full brain workout! Playing a musical in instrument engages every area of the brain all at once; the visual, auditory and motor cortices.
Practicing strengthens the links between those cortices, allowing musicians to perform better at other activities. It also increases the volume and activity of the “bridge” linking the left and right hemispheres ( corpus callosum ) helping those hemispheres exchange data faster and through more diverse routes.
